The Arrow Family is Making Another Run

I'ma go under the assumption that you people aren't reading many comics anymore, let alone what's happening to Green Arrow and his family so I'm gonna give a ya a quick(ish) rundown and why it's cool. In Justice League Cry for Justice, the original Prometheus came back. After figuring it out, Prometheus cut off Red Arrow's arm. He then went on to try and destroy the cities of the heroes. Only way to stop him is to let him go (which of course works somehow...) but Arrow's city, Star City, has already been blown to pieces, Killing thousands including Ollie's pseudo-granddaughter and Conner's actual daughter, Lian. Destroying his city, maiming his "son" and killing his "granddaughter", believe it or not, sends Ollie over the edge. He is the one who talks the League into letting Prometheus go, only to hunt him down and kill him himself. Now he is on the hunt for the Electrucutioner, who helped Prometheus, while on the run from the other Leaguers who are now trying to stop him (cuz heroes never kill...). Meanwhile, after waking up, Conner has come to find out that Prometheus' blade that took his arm also released nanites so they are having a hard time fixing it, not to mention that he now has to hear his daughter was killed while he was out. Turning to pills to ease the pain, we are starting seeing the old drug addict of the 70's once more.

I love what they're doing. Ollie is one of the few that I can see actually crossing that line. Damn right he's gonna want blood. "Yes they deserved to die! And I hope they burn in hell!" (look it up. It's actually a pretty good movie). Not to mention the emotion that writer JT Krul is putting into this. We all know I'm a smart-ass who jokes a lot but the three pages where Conner sees his daughter's body are heart-wrenching. I don't know if the Arrow Family has ever been this interesting to me.

In terms of books, Cry for Justice was good, but it felt rushed. It was originally was supposed to be another League ongoing but it got moved into a 7-issue mini instead so you can feel the places where things were shortened in order to fit. But it was still a pretty good story. Most of the art on this page was done by Mauro Cascioli who did the painted art on the first 4 issues but the final three were mostly done by filler artists. Green Arrow and The Rise of Arsenal are both written by JT Krul with art by this guy and that guy but I don't know their names (so sue me). This book is selling out at most levels so you'll probably want to pick up trades if ya get into it and if you have any interest at this point, I recommend it. The Cry for Justice mini should be available in hardcover but the others have just started so it'll be five of six months until they get collected.

Cap (Sorta) Confirmed

So, as Ryan said in his comment the last time around, reports are saying that Evans has accepted the role of Cap. Main voice to believe would probably be Avengers movie producer Jon Favreau who said on his twitter account "Welcome to the new Captain. He continues the fine tradition of playing two Marvel characters!"
So..... what do ya think? Good pick? Like I said, I like him for the look and the action, but not sure how to feel about the "being him" part. All I can go with is the fact that despite all that can be said for the movies, almost all of the casting for Marvel has been great. I hope Evans proves me wrong and is amazing.

WTF, DC? WTF?

What the hell is wrong with DC? You guys seeing this picture to the side? Catgirl? F-ing Catgirl?! After reading all this love for Tony Daniel's work on Batman, I decided to get caught up on the book and this is the crap people are liking? The dude's first writing gig was the three issue mini Battle for the Cowl and it was, at best, mediocre. But this? It's a sad time for the Bat-family. Morrison's Batman and Robin is good and all but the only Bat-book worth reading right now seems to be the only one without Batman in it! And that Bat-character is a lesbian (which has nothing to do with anything, I just wanted to throw it out there)! What is wrong with DC? Here's my idea: give Geoff Johns the writing reigns for a while. To everything. Let him fix it all. Steer things in a good direction. Then it will at least look like they're trying...

F-ing Catgirl....

Chris "Johnny Storm" Evans offered Cap....?

Really? Chris Evans has been offered the part of Captain America? What the Hell?! Don't get me wrong, I like me some Chris Evans. For all the flaws that the two FF movies had, him as Torch wasn't one of my complaints. I enjoyed him in Cellular (though that movie sucked too), Sunshine was complete rip of Event Horizon but he was great in that, he looks good in The Losers but that's not even out yet, and Push has been one of my favorite "sleeper hits" in some time. Not to mention my giant man-crush on him. But Captain America? Steve "Eat Your Wheaties" Rogers?! This character is the moral compass for the Marvel Universe. The role model on integrity that all others can look up to, and Chris Evans came to mind? I just don't see that.
Though, I didn't see Downey Jr as Iron Man as first either so I can only hope that Marvel has seen something in his auditions that I haven't

Dear Diary 5

Dear Diary,
Today I bought Ninja Assassin on blu-ray and it gave me an NB. I had an NB in Best Buy while buying it. I had an NB in my car on the ride home. I had an NB in the living room while it was on the HD flat-screen. I had an NB while just taking the blu-ray into the basement. Hell, I have an NB just typing about it! I love me some Ninja Assassin and I am grateful that one was smart enough to make this movie. Now, I am off to do something about all these NB's...
Love Always

Little Facts

Two things of interest (possibly).
First, don't go see She's Out of My League. It was pretty stupid and all the funny parts were in the trailers. If you haven't heard of it, then don't worry. You're not missing much. Plus there was no nudity.
Second, reports are say that Agent Smith himself, Hugo Weaving, is in talks to play the Red Skull for the upcoming First Avenger movie. Would probably do a good job, in my book though I don't know how of if he could pull off a German accent. And oddly enough, one of the dudes from She's Out of My League is still one of the names up for the role of Cap. Personally, I'm still all for Captain Awesome from Chuck playing him.

Nobody Knows Who Lee Pace Is

But you should. Even though it was prematurely cancelled (one of the many), Pushing Daisies was amazing. If you haven't watched it, you need to. It's all about the Ned, the Pie Man (Pace) who is able to bring people back from the dead with a mere touch. Only he must touch them again, within a minute to put them back or else somebody else dies in their place. And of course, they decide to use his power to bring people back, in order to get information from them so that they can collect reward money. Great show.
But I'm losing my first thought. I watched a movie with Lee Pace in it last night called The Fall and I thought it was amazing. I would absolutely recommend watching it. It's the story of a stuntman who, after a fall, befriends a little girl in a hospital in the early 1900's (1920-ish, I think). However, things are not quite as they appear, as he begins to tell her a story, all in an attempt to get her to sneak around and still him pills. Great movie with great imagery. And (don't tell anyone you heard it from me) it had an amazingly touching story. You will feel the connections bonded between these two by the end of the movie. Watch it. Stop reading this crap that I'm typing and go watch it.
